DURHAM — The Person girls’ track and field team ended its regular season by losing to Hillside Wednesday afternoon at Hillside High School.

Rockets who placed were Brittany Burton with a first place time of 12.03in the 100-meter dash, Destiny Poteat with a second in the 110 hurdles, and Elizabeth Short with a third place the 1600 meters.

Four Rockets have also qualified for the regionals this year. They are Jelisa Oakley in the 100 meters, Burton in the high jump and the 100, and the 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams of Oakley, Burton, Talaya Smith and Poteat.

The Rocket girls finished 2-6 overall on the season.

The Person boys were also defeated on Wednesday. Results of their meet were not available at press time.

The Piedmont Athletic Conference meet takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday at Riverside High School.
