SOUTH BOSTON, Va. Danny Abold of Liverpool, N.Y. won
the rain-shortened Miller Lite 250 USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series
race here Saturday night at South Boston Speedway.
The win was Abolds first USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series
victory here at South Boston Speedway.
Abold inherited the lead when pole winner Benny Gordon of
DuBois, Pa. pitted for tires and gas on lap 17 during the
races first caution period. He held the top spot the
rest of the way, but was being seriously challenged by Gordon
when the race was put under caution on lap 99 due to rain.
The race was red flagged on lap 102 and was resumed after
an approximate two-hour rain delay. Rain came yet again a
short time later, with the race being stopped and declared
official after 160 laps with Abold leading the race and Gordon
in second place.
I would like thank all of the people on our staff as
well as USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series officials for their hard
work in attempting to dry the track and keep the race going,
said South Boston Speedway General Manager Cathy Rice.
I also want to thank all of the fans for their patience.
Every effort possible was made to try to dry the track and
complete the event in as timely a manner as possible. Unfortunately,
the weather didnt cooperate.
