The Person junior varsity team improved to 8-0 in Piedmont Athletic Conference action with a convincing 16-0 win over Chapel Hill on Tuesday at home.

Kaitlyn Burton led the way offensively with two triples and four RBI, while Carly Earp collected two hits and three RBI.

Amanda Poindexter and Amber Clayton added sacrifice RBIs, and Whitney Williams and Carole Cavalier contributed two hits each. Pitchers Chelsea Murray and Earp combined on a no-hitter.

“Coach [Jack] Pointer and I are proud of these girls,” said coach Donnie Murray. “They have been playing well with good hitting, defense and pitching, and aggressive base running. We couldn’t ask for a better group of young ladies to coach.”

The Rockets are 11-3 overall.
