Following a brief vehicle chase Friday, Roxboro police arrested
Prentice Taylor Garnett, 20, of 712 Old Durham Rd. on a host
of traffic and drug-related charges.
Garnett was reportedly operating a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire Friday
afternoon and allegedly attempted to avoid a license checkpoint
on Crestwood Drive.
After turning around in a nearby driveway, Garnett reportedly
sped away from the checkpoint and allegedly threw a bag containing
six grams of marijuana from her vehicle during the chase,
which ended at the intersection of Chub Lake Street and James
Street.
Garnett was charged with a felony count of speeding to elude
arrest. In addition, she was charged with misdemeanor counts
of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia,
failure to stop for blue lights and siren, having no operators
license, careless and reckless driving, driving left of center,
speeding 65 miles per hour in a 35 zone, failure to stop for
a stop sign, failure to stop for a stoplight and having an
expired inspection sticker.
Garnett was released from custody after posting a $3,000
secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in district court
on March 20.
