traffic-related charges
- 2/19/08

Following a brief vehicle chase Friday, Roxboro police arrested Prentice Taylor Garnett, 20, of 712 Old Durham Rd. on a host of traffic and drug-related charges.

Garnett was reportedly operating a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire Friday afternoon and allegedly attempted to avoid a license checkpoint on Crestwood Drive.

After turning around in a nearby driveway, Garnett reportedly sped away from the checkpoint and allegedly threw a bag containing six grams of marijuana from her vehicle during the chase, which ended at the intersection of Chub Lake Street and James Street.

Garnett was charged with a felony count of speeding to elude arrest. In addition, she was charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to stop for blue lights and siren, having no operator’s license, careless and reckless driving, driving left of center, speeding 65 miles per hour in a 35 zone, failure to stop for a stop sign, failure to stop for a stoplight and having an expired inspection sticker.

Garnett was released from custody after posting a $3,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in district court on March 20.
