The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather
advisory for Person County from 9 p.m. tonight through 9 a.m.
Friday.
A brief mixture of snow and sleet, followed by some freezing
rain is expected in the Northwest Piedmont tonight and early
Friday.
The precipitation is expected to begin as a brief period of snow
and sleet between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. tonight. The precipitation
is then expected to transition to a mix of freezing rain and
rain after midnight. The freezing rain is then forecast to change
to all rain around daybreak Friday as temperatures rise above
freezing.
Little or no snow and sleet accumulation is expected. Minor
ice accumulations of less than a tenth of an inch will be
possible, primarily on elevated and metal surfaces. It is
also possible that slick spots could form on bridges and overpasses.
A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet
or freezing rain could cause travel difficulties. Motorists
are advised to be prepared for slippery roads and limited
visibilities and to use caution while driving.
