Sheriff’s deputies arrested Austin Anthony Downey, 40, of Dee Long Road early Sunday morning on felony charges of motor vehicle theft and possession of stolen property as well as a misdemeanor charge of driving while license revoked.
Downey was reportedly operating a 2005 GMC truck owned by the Furniture Mart at 740 N. Madison Blvd. when sheriff’s deputies stopped him at 1310 Concord-Ceffo Rd. shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday.
Downey reportedly admitted he had stolen the truck from the Furniture Mart earlier.
Downey was jailed under a $15,000 secured bond. He is slated to appear in district court on Aug. 21.
Roxboro police arrested Jamar Wilkerson, 18, of 121 Oxford Rd. Friday on a felony charge of attempted breaking and entering.
Wilkerson had reportedly attempted to break into an occupied dwelling on the Old Durham Road shortly before his arrest.
Wilkerson was held under a $5,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in district court on Aug. 21.
