Deputies with the Person County Sheriff’s Department arrested two persons Tuesday on felony fraud-related charges.

Gary James Maxwell Jr., 21, of 460 Moss Creek Dr. and Melanie Paige Dewald, 20, of 82 Casey Ct. were each charged in connection with the incident that reportedly took place Tuesday.

Charges against Maxwell included forgery of an instrument, uttering a forged instrument and obtaining property by false pretense, while Dewald was charged with conspiracy.

Maxwell was jailed under a $25,000 secured bond, while Dewald was held under a $10,000 secured bond. The two are scheduled to appear in district court on Oct. 2.
