Jerry Wayne Conner, 23, of Halifax County, Va. was arrested by deputies with the Person County Sheriff’s Department Thursday on charges stemming from incidents that reportedly took place nearly a year ago.
Conner was charged with three felony counts of larceny, two felony counts of safecracking, a felony count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and a misdemeanor count of larceny.
The incidents that led to the charges against Conner reportedly took place on three separate dates last September. Warrants for his arrest were issued last October.
Conner was jailed under a $40,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Person County District Court on Sept. 23.
Cheston Alan Clayton, 26, of 391 Lewis Winstead Loop Rd. was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Thursday on felony charges of uttering a forged instrument and forgery of an instrument as well as a misdemeanor charge of larceny.
Clayton is alleged to have stolen two checks from a family member and cashed one in the amount of $375 on Wednesday.
Clayton was jailed under a $20,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in district court on Sept. 9.
