Sheriff’s deputies arrested two motorcyclists Thursday following a high-speed chase that began on Durham Road and ended when the cyclists turned onto Burton Street, which is a dead end street.

Kevin Sullivan Kelly, 20 of Apex and Jason Bradley Downey, 24, of Durham were each charged with a felony count of fleeing to elude arrest and misdemeanor counts of failure to heed blue light and siren and speeding in excess of 65 miles per hour. According to an incident report at the sheriff’s department, the two motorcycles reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour on the Durham Road.

Kelly and Downey were released after posting $5,000 secured bonds. The two are scheduled to appear in district court on Dec. 13.

Timothy Dale Chandler, 22, of 731 Polk Huff Rd. was arrested Thursday by sheriff’s deputies on a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.

Chandler was reportedly found to be in possession of 4.7 grams of marijuana when he was stopped by deputies at the intersection of Polk Huff Road and Dirgie Mine Road.

Chandler was held under a $3,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in district court on Dec. 4.
