The phones will be ringing at the new Roxboro Police Department
beginning Monday,, but the departments move from Gordon
Street to the new 15,000-plus square foot facility at the
corner of Reams Avenue and Lamar Street wont be complete
until the end of the month.
Roxboro Police Chief Jeff Insley said Thursday that someone
would be down there to monitor the phones, however, persons
needing to speak with police officers or retrieve reports will
still need to go to the current police headquarters on Gordon
Street.
The administrative calls will be going there, but we
will not move until sometime later, Insley explained,
adding that the move into the new facility would be complete
by Friday, Nov. 30.
Ive been told to be in there by Nov. 30,
Insley said.
A dedication ceremony for the new police facility has been
set for Tuesday, Dec. 4.
The parking lot at the new headquarters was paved Tuesday,
and final finishing work at the site is being completed.
Whenever we get the okay to officially move in there,
we will be ready, Insley said. We already have
a plan in place to make the move, were just waiting
for the city and the contractor to give us the go-ahead.
Insley said members of the police department would handle
the move to the new facility.
Until the move is completed, Insley, who said he would be
rotating persons to the new site to answer the phones, noted
that the hours of operation for the department would revert
back to 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Once the move is complete,
the main office will remain open until 8 p.m. each Monday,
Tuesday and Thursday.
