An eight-year-old Roxboro boy suffered serious injuries Thursday
evening when he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike
on Younger Road.
According to investigating North Carolina Highway Patrol
Trooper C.L. Daye, Zachary Bradsher, 8, of Reade Drive, was
riding a bicycle in a driveway at 1037 Younger Rd. shortly
after 6:30 p.m. driveway.
He rode the bike out of the driveway into the roadway
and was hit by a vehicle, Trooper Daye said.
Lisa Lewis, 42, of White Oak Drive was driving the vehicle,
a Ford Expedition, according to Daye. He said Lewis was eastbound
at the time and speed was not a factor in the accident. Daye
also noted that no charges were filed in connection with the
wreck.
Bradsher was taken by Person County EMS to Person Memorial
Hospital. He was later transferred via medical helicopter
to Duke University Medical Center where, Daye said, he was
in intensive care Thursday evening.
