Tuesday, during the regular monthly meeting of Roxboro City Council, Planning Director Julie Kelly announced Tillman’s hiring as a code enforcement officer II.

Tillman officially began his duties Thursday.

“Dale will complement our existing staff,” Kelly told The Courier-Times. “He has many years of experience in construction and code enforcement.”

Kelly went on to point out that Tillman possessed “multiple high level certification from the North Carolina Department of Insurance,” including specialties in building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and fire.

Tillman, Kelly said, will help the Planning Department continue to meet the housing needs addressed by council in its strategic plan.

“The planning staff continues to work towards implementing the goals set by council through the city’s strategic planning process,” Kelly said.

Among those goals, she pointed out, were to “encourage and facilitate economic development, encourage infill development, greater code enforcement and development of the city’s unified development ordinance.”
