The May 6 primary elections are nearly three weeks away,
but many Personians will be casting ballots as early as this
week.
One-stop voting, or early voting, for the primaries will
get underway Thursday. Three one stop voting sites in Person
County will be available for early voting, however, only two
of the three will be operating this week, according to Person
County Elections Director Brenda Whitlow.
The three one-stop voting sites in Person County are the
Person County Board of Elections Office at 331 S. Morgan St.,
the Person County Public Library at 319 S. Main St. and the
Timberlake Volunteer Fire Department at 350 Ashley Ave. in
Timberlake.
The Timberlake location will be a new site for one-stop voting
this year and one that Whitlow thinks will be a big benefit
for persons who live in southern Person County and may work
in Durham or Raleigh.
One stop voting in Timberlake will begin on Monday, April
21. The hours are from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. on April 21-22,
24 and 26-30. But Whitlow said the Timberlake site also will
be open several evenings as well.
On April 23, 25 and May 1-2, the Timberlake one-stop site
will be open from 11 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. It will not be open,
however, on Saturday, May 3.
The board of elections office and public library will be
open for one-stop voting each Monday through Friday from 8:30
a.m. until 5 p.m. through Friday, May 2. At both of those
locations, one stop voting will also be offered on Saturday,
May 3, from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
