Ralph Bass
The funeral for Ralph (Pete) Bass, 63, of 428b Mt. Bethel Church
Rd., who died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008 at Person Memorial Hospital,
will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, in Mt. Bethel Baptist
Church by the Rev. Johnny Wilson and the Rev. Benjamin Green. Burial
will be in the Peace Memorial Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Paylor Bass; two sons, Terren L.
Bass and Michael T. Bass, both of the home; a brother, Anthony Bass
of Semora; four sisters, Mary B. Hollis and Lois Satterfield, both
of Maryland, Helen Brogdon of Durham, Mollie Lyons of Wake Forest
and Christine P. Jones of Roxboro.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. today, Feb. 2, at Hester,
Whitted & Daye Funeral Home.
Mae S. Cunningham
The funeral for Mae Smith Cunningham, 98, of 9236 N.C. 49, who
died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008 at the Oxford Manor Nursing Center,
will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, in Blue Wing Baptist
Church by the Rev. Leroy Anderson. Burial will be in the church
cemetery.
Mrs. Cunningham was a member of Jonathan Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Ella Cunningham of the home; two sons,
John Howard of the home and James Howard of Reynoldsburg, Oho; six
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 2, at the
church.
Drewey E. Greene
CLOVER, Va. The funeral for Drewey (Poochie) Elam Greene,
72, of 7199 Hunting Creek Rd., Clover, Va., who died Monday, Jan.
28, 2008 at his home, was conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31,
at Bethel Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. William Hicks. Burial
was in the church cemetery.
Born on Feb. 15, 1935 in Halifax County, Mr. Greene was the son
of the late Alfred and Bettie Cousins Greene.
He was a former employee of Halifax County Public Schools.
He was a member of Bethel Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy G. Greene; a daughter, Darlene
Downey of Danville; three sons, David Greene of Roxboro and Danny
Greene and Derrick Greene, both of Clover; a sister, Nancy Ashton
of Ft. Washington, Md.; two brothers, Alfred Greene of Maryland
and George Greene of Clinton Md.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Estil Harris.
GALAX, Va.. Funeral arrangements were incomplete Friday
for Estil Harris, 79, of Galax, Va., and formerly of Roxboro, who
died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008.
Surviving Mr. Harris are his wife of 64 years, Sadie Harris; two
daughters, Lois Glavin of Palm Beach, Fla. and Sylvia Donithan of
Galax; a son, Gary Harris of Rural Hall; seven grandchildren and
nine great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Twin County Funeral Home of Galax.
Montee M. Keen
GOLDSBORO The funeral for Montee Moyle Maddox Keen, 73,
of 204 Millbrook Village Dr., Goldsboro and formerly of Roxboro,
who died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center,
will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, in the Seymour Funeral
Home chapel by Dr. Homer Morris. Burial will be in the Wayne Memorial
Park.
Mrs. Keen was born in Durham on Aug. 24, 1934, to the late Caleb
Jones and Montee Moyle Maddox.
She worked as a certified legal assistant with Ronnie P. King,
Attorney-At-Law, in Roxboro for 22 years.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Eugene Keen; a daughter, Karen Keen-DeMello
and husband, Paul, of Goldsboro; two sons, Jody Paul Keen and wife,
Michele, of Bethel and Randall Eugene Keen and wife, Melinda, of
Raleigh; a brother, Caleb Jones Maddox of Wilmington; six grandchildren,
Justin DeMello, Ian Dillard, Caleb Keen, Tyler Keen, Samantha Kasior
and Avery Keen.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home and
other times at the home.
