Margaret H. Craven
LEXINGTON The funeral for Margaret Hannah Craven, 86, of
W. Second Ave., Lexington, who died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007 at
Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, will be conducted at 11
a.m. today, Dec. 15, in First United Methodist Church by the Rev.
Carl Lindquist. Burial will be in the Lexington City Cemetery.
Born April 1, 1921 in Davidson County, Mrs. Craven was the daughter
of the late William Andrew and Ethel Tatum Hannah. Her late husband
was John Braxton Craven, and her late son was John Braxton Craven
Jr.
She attended the Womans College of the University of North
Carolina in Greensboro.
She was a member of First United Methodist church, where she had
served on the board of trustees and on the administrative board.
From 1958 to 1988, she served as secretary-treasurer of Craven
Insurance Agency. She also served as director and chairman of the
board of Davidson Federal Savings Bank,as a director of Dixie Furniture
Co., and of Regency Bancshares.
Her civic activities included trustee of Lexington Memorial Hospital,
director of the United Way, Red Cross, and the City Club. She was
a member of the Charity League, OHenry Study Club, and Lexington
Womens Investment Club.
Surviving are three daughters, Dolly C. Denton of Roxboro, Cynthia
Hoyt and husband, Charles, of Jacksonville, and Hannah Craven and
husband, David Funk, of Arlington, Va.; six grandchildren, Katherine
D. Solomon, Margaret C. Denton, H. Elizabeth Fouts, John D. Craven,
Jack Funk and Peter Funk; and two great-grandchildren, Logan A.
Solomon and Natalia K. Edwards-Fouts.
Memorials may be made to the Altar Guild at First UMC, 310 S. Main
St, Lexington, NC 27292, Pastors Pantry, 208 E. Center St.,
Lexington, NC 27292 or to Hospice of Davidson County, P.O. Box 1941,
Lexington, NC 27293.

Billy W. Hutchins
DURHAM Billy Woodrow Hutchins of Durham, born Aug. 10, 1917,
died Dec. 7, 2007 at Duke Medical Hospital. A private funeral was
held Sunday, Dec. 9.
Mr. Hutchins is survived by two children, Frances Hutchins May
and William Thomas Hutchins,oth of Durham; two grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Charles Roosevelt Loyd ?
LAGUNA WOODS, Calif. A funeral mass for Charles Roosevelt
Loyd, 72, of Laguna Woods, Calif., who died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007
at Saddleback Hospital in Laguna Woods, will be conducted today,
Dec. 15, at Catholic Church.
Born Sept. 14, 1935, in Halifax County, Va., Mr. Loyd was the son
of the late Charlie T. and Luvinia R. Hicks.
Surviving are his second wife, Eva Puertas Loyd; a son, Matt F.
Loyd and wife, Laura, of Florence, Ky.; three brothers, Shirley
E. Loyd of Roxboro, Bobby L. Loyd and Eugene D. Loyd, both of South
Boston, Va.; and two grandchildren, Shelby and Taylor, both of Florence.
Walter Timmons
The funeral for Walter (Von) Timmons, 52, of Roxboro, who died
Monday, Dec. 10, 2007 at Durham Regional Hospital, will be conducted
at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 15, in Shady Hill Missionary Baptist Church
by Dr. James A. Richmond. Burial will be in the Peace Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Timmons was the son of the late Walter and Serdoma Timmons.
Surviving are three sisters, Earnesteen Brown, Bernice Timmons
and Alcena Timmons, all of Baltimore, Md.; and two brothers, Ronald
Timmons of Durham and Ernest Timmons of Roxboro.
